Important Safety Information 2002 ENDURO FSR BICYCLES

Are you the owner of a 2002 Specialized Enduro FSR, purchased between October 2001 and March 15, 2002? As an Enduro owner, we have received isolated reports.

The Situation A small number of Enduro frames have suffered small cracks or failures on the seatstay. Despite the small number of incidents, we want to take control of the situation and fix all Enduro frames. The seatstay disc brake side of the affected frames is showing cracks and sometimes even failures due to forward force applied during braking. You can see the crack at the end the disc mount plate.

The Approach: Rather that handling each case individually, we have notified CPSC and initiated a replacement program through Specialized Dealers for Enduro rear stays assemblies. With this proactive approach, we will ensure that our products are safe for customers and minimize any interruption to your Enduro riding experience.

The Fix: Our factory has worked with us to improve the Enduro rearstay assembly. This will increase strength in the seatstay region. You can identify the new assemblies by the P or S stamp on the inside seatstay.
For a free replacement of your Enduro rearstay assembly, please contact your Specialized dealer. A few bikes of the new design were sent to dealers in February, but this was an exception. These frames are easily identifiable by the P or S printed on the seatstays and won’t need to be replaced. This can be done by your dealer.

We appreciate your assistance in this matter. This approach will enable us to quickly and efficiently resolve any Enduro issues while getting you back out on the trails, enjoying your Enduro as soon possible.
